The Cornish House mmpArtist Maddie is still shocked and grieving after the death of her husband when she arrives at her new home in Cornwall in the middle of the night.

Maddie has inherited Trevenen, a beautiful, but neglected house near Helford.  As she and her stepdaughter Hannah struggle with their grief and their uneasy relationship, Maddie finds herself enchanted by Trevenen and begins to discover as much of its past as she can. As Trevenen’s secrets begin to unfold, and Maddie falls in love with her new surroundings, their future in their beautiful Cornish home is threatened.

Liz Fenwick first visited Cornwall in 1989 and visited the Helford area, which she describes as ‘magical’ and this is her second book published about the county.

Liz’s third book A Cornish Stranger will be published in May 2014.

This is a gentle read, evocative of the beauty of the tranquil part of the Lizard Peninsual where it is set, and an involving journey through loss, grief and change. At times it will make you laugh, and at others it will make you cry, but from the moment you open the pages, you will be transported to the ramshackle charms of Trevenen and the surrounding area, and the magic of the Cornish countryside.
